Tells the legendary tale of King Leonidas. With his own personal bodyguard numbering 300 Spartans he managed to slow the advance of the Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae. His sacrifice gave rest of Greece enough time to rally resistance.
The 300 Spartans is a great epic. Revisiting this movie has only made me more excited about the release of Zack Snyder’s retelling of the legend, 300. The remake was inspired by Frank Miller’s graphic novel about the battle of Thermopylae. I adored the theatrical flavor that most of the actors brought to their roles. The static camera work of 1962 during the action sequences is in stark contrast to modern techniques where the camera is in amoungst the action.
