Biographical take on the life of George W. Bush. One of the most controversial presidents in USA history. Chronicling from his wild and carefree days in college, to his military service, to his governorship of Texas. His role in the oil business, his 2000 candidacy for president, his first turbulent four years, and his 2004 re-election campaign.
Movies like W are most supposed to be made in such way to make us want to ask questions about what really happened. However, I can’t help but be suspicious of the fact that Oliver Stone may have had an ulterior motive with this movie. He did not try to whitewash the entire war on terrorism but seemed to attempt to vindicate George W Bush by trying to make us sympathise with the man and painting him as a man who was unable to come out of his father’s shadow.
Josh Brolin’s performance as the now former President was brilliant. However, I was particularly impressed with the performances given by Jeffrey Wright and Richard Dreyfuss as Colin Powell and Dick Cheney.
