Two Canadian Parajet pilots Mark Jennings-Bates and Glenn Derouin are planning to set a new world record by flying their craft across the country.
The current world record stands at 8,008 kilometres and was set by Canadian pilot, Ben Jordan who flew across Canada in 2009.
On February 1st, 2012 the duo will head out from Townsville and will head south before crossing the Nullarbor over to Western Australia.
The purpose of the flight is not only to break the world record but also to raise money for the Rally4Life foundation and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Mark Jennings-Bates has a personal objective to raise $4 million for the charities.
