A remake of the 1985 original, teenager Charley Brewster guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent, a self-proclaimed vampire killer and Las Vegas magician, to help him take down Jerry.
A certain amount scepticism sets in when you are about to watch the remake of movie or television series, that initial scepticism however, was completely unwarranted, because there are no sparkly vampires and it’s pretty clear that the makeup artists where not paying homage to Joss Whedon. Ok at times some of the more lighthearted moments did come across as if they were a little over the top but it did not take away from the overall flow or spirit of the movie. I felt that the casting of Anton Yelchin was an interesting choice; he does have intriguing screen presence though he may not have the traditional cinematic hero look. The finale of Fright Night has one of the best examples of a fight involving a vampire that I have seen.
