Charlie, a Los Angeles billionaire financial whiz goes into self-imposed exile in Tijuana after his empire is revealed to have been a Ponzi scheme. While looking for the woman he abandoned there 25 years before, Charlie is pursued by a Mexican gangster, a federal agent and thugs sent by a former client looking to retrieve his money.
Given the resentment that most of us have towards bankers as a result of the recent financial crisis Across the line give us a someone we can hate with a fiery passion.
This was the first time that I have watched a movie, directed by R. Ellis Frazier. I was very impressed with his work, and though I don’t see myself visiting Tijuana any time soon it seems that it have beautiful cityscape at night.
Across the Line turned out to something completely different to what I was actually expecting there was dramatically slower pace as it focused heavily on character development. To be perfectly honest there where significantly less gunfights then I thought there would be.
I know it is an odd thing to think about while watching this one but I could not help but be reminded of the 2001 Australian movie Let’s get Skase.
