In an effort to reduce pollution and improve the ACT’s air quality Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell to take advantage of a rebate program and replace wood heaters and replace them natural gas heaters.
Minister Corbell commented, “Replacing old wood heaters is a simple and effective way that individual households can contribute to lowering pollution and protect both our environment and our health.”
Minister Corbell commented that there is a $800 rebate for replacing wood heaters with ducted gas systems and a $600 rebate for replacing them with new flued gas installations.
“Since the program was launched in 2004, 953 wood heaters had been replaced with cleaner heating alternatives contributing to a reduction in wood smoke levels,” Minister Corbell said.
The program runs from March 1st to December 31st .
