In shock and denial over his Marine father’s death in battle, star Lacrosse player Conor Sullivan, always a maverick and a hothead, starts acting out in self-destructive ways that have his mom, Claire, at her wit’s end. But arduous training in a wilderness Lacrosse camp under the tutelage of his dad’s old combat buddy, Sgt. Major Duke Wayne, opens Conor’s eyes to the true meaning of maturity, sportsmanship and manhood
Even with its sugary sweet romantic-teen coating, A Warrior’s Heart came off as being a little too predictable for its own good. I suppose it was a stroke of genius by the filmmakers when they cast Kelan Lutz and Ashley Greene in the lead roles, as most of you should realise they have previously worked together. Though I cannot help but think that the filmmakers would have been spoiled for choice with young actors to fill the lead roles. Perhaps with a little more patience they could have found actors with abilities that exceed both Greene and Lutz.
In a lot of ways A Warrior’s Heart seemed to come across as a reverse Crazy Beautiful. What I loved about the movie was that A Warrior’s Heart was very much a tribal film. Both Michael Sears and Martin Dugard should be congratulated for getting the tribal aspect of the movie right.
