Floriade is only four months away and yesterday, Students from The Woden School and MLA Andrew Barr joined Floriade’s head gardener, Andrew Forster to plant the first bulbs for Canberra’s 25th Floriade. Andrew Barr took the opportunity to announce the theme for this year’s Floriade, which is Style and Design. Mr. Barr noted that this year is the third year that students from the Woden School have been involved with Floriade as a part of work skills program run by their school.
Mr. Barr noted that last year Floriade generated an economic return of $30 million to the ACT and attracted over 410,000 visitors this is the second highest attendance figure since the introduction of turnstiles in 1999.
