Based on a true story in the early 80’s a US Congressman from Texas Charlie Wilson at the instance of his major conservative Joanne Herring had covert dealings in Afghanistan in order to arm the rebels in their war against Soviet Russia.
This is an amazing story, possibly about an event in American history that so few of us might know anything about. After watching this movie I cant help but wonder why does it seem at times that there are so few people like Charlie Wilson in politics across the world.
Tom Hanks was brilliant as always and I would love to see Philip Seymour Hoffman in more comedic roles as he has the presence to be a brilliant straight man. Julia Roberts was great though some how i felt that she was under utilized, was this because of the constraints that film makers had when using film as a medium for story telling?
