A married woman realizes how unhappy her marriage really is, and that her life needs to go in a different direction. After a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey to “find herself”.
Though I may be a big fan of self-discovery, I am not a big fan of this movie despite the fact that Eat Pray Love in most cases it is indeed a visual buffet because Elizabeth Gilbert portrayed by Julia Roberts visited some truly amazing places during her journey. I will admit that I have not read Gilbert’s book. What I really did not like about this movie was the scene where Gilbert broke the news to her husband that she no longer wanted to be married; it seemed that the filmmakers had an almost flippant attitude towards that moment and it ended up portraying Julia Roberts’ character as being extremely self indulgent.
