In a small town in West Texas, High School Football is a religion, where the coach is treated like a god so long as the team wins. But when the second string quarterback Jonathan Moxon who is ready to quit football altogether is thrown into action when the starting quarterback is injured. He suddenly finds himself in direct conflict with his coach, girlfriend and father.

Varsity Blues has a brilliant point to make about the vicariousness nature of school sports and the pressure some parents may place there children under. Voigt gives a great performance as expected while Van Der Beek could be accused of phoning his performance in on this one. The Verdict on Varisity Blues, worth watching but probably not worth buying.
