Eight years on, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy.
Finally, we have reached the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The Dark Knight Rises is clearly the darkest of the three movies, and parents should take note that despite any toy-marketing tie-ins this really is not one for the younger viewers. It was great to see Anne Hathaway in her first straight up action movie role, I was looking forward to seeing her in this movie and I was not disappointed, she is brilliant as Catwoman.
Tom Hardy was physically imposing in his portrayal of the mercenary leader Bane. However, the hybrid English and German accent made Bane come across as ridiculous as Darth Vader before James Earl Jones redubbed the voice. Sadly, neither Hardy nor Hathaway managed that for the final instalment that Heath Ledger managed to capture in The Dark Knight.
