An ex-con is forced into pulling a heist he wants nothing to do with. As he goes to steal a million dollars stashed in the home of a dangerous mob boss, he’s thrust into a deadly battle between career criminals to grab the money and kill the competition.
I was highly impressed with Hard Boiled Sweet it was everything that you would expect from a British Gangster flick and just a little bit more. One of the other cool things about this movie was that it was director David L.G Hughes’ debut directing a feature. On a personal note I tend favour British Gangster flicks over their American cousins. I will not deny that there should be many American Gangster flicks on everybody’s must see list, I just believe that British films tend favour style over gratuitous violence. This was demonstrated with the short film A Girl and a Gun and the feature length version that it inspired.
