ACT Opposition Leader Zed Seselja and ACT Shadow Nature Conservation Minister Vicki Dunne announced today that if elected, a Canberra Liberals Government would provide Canberrans with a third bin for garden waste at no additional cost and the construction of a $10 million garden waste processing facility.
“This initiative would save Canberra home owners up to $400 a year in green waste collection services.” Mr Seselja said adding, “The green waste would be mulched and sold, offsetting the cost of collection.”
Mrs Dunne explained that the Canberra Liberals would test the market to identify a suitable public-private-partnership model to deliver the initiative.
“So a Canberra Liberals Government would also talk to our regional counterparts about the best ways to collaboratively collect and process other organic waste.” Mrs. Dunne commented.
