Directed by Michael Winnick
Staring Gary Oldman, Christian Slater and Megan Park
Rated MA
Score 6/6
The story throws Elvis impersonators, Indians, modern cowboys, a 6-foot-tall blond assassin, a frat boy, a corrupt sheriff and a prostitute into a chase for a priceless American Indian artifact stolen during a poker game at an Indian casino.
I was actually lucky finding this one, I do not have even slightest memory of seeing the trailer for Guns, Girls & Gambling.
I am completely unfamiliar with the rest of writer & director Michael Winnick’s work, and if his other movies are anything like Guns, Girls & Gambling I think I might have to watch them.
Winnick crafted something that has a film noir crime feel with a brilliant layer of comedy, this is the exact type of movie that you watch kicking back with a beer. Fans of the Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven movies or the television series Hustle might enjoy this.
Though it should be noted that Christian Slater is not the first actor that I would like to see beaten up by Elvis impersonators, Indians and modern cowboys but he did give a brilliant performance.
