A group of British retirees decide to “outsource” their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India. Enticed by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel, they arrive to find the palace a shell of its former self.
Let me start this review by saying yes I should have probably seen this one at the friendly neighbourhood cinema and no I have not read the 2004 novel by Deborah Moggach ‘These Foolish Things’ that the movie was based on.
India looks like an amazing country of contrasts and I thought that it was rather respectful of the director John Madden not to use subtitles.
The cast has a list of British screen legends how all gave amazing performances though I loved Penelope Wilton and Maggie Smith’s performances. I found Wilton’s performance to be rather hillairious.
Considering what a scary place that the world can be I think that we need more people in the world
