Holden has announced that due to a reduction in demand for our Australian-built cars led by a sustained high Australian dollar that it has been forced to reduce its workforce at Holden Vehicle Operations (HVO) in Adelaide by 170 positions with a voluntary separation program, which is in line with the Holden Enterprise Bargaining Agreement. It is anticipated that all the reductions can be made through voluntary separation packages.
The Job reductions are necessary to maintain auto manufacturing in Australia for the long-term, and the implementation of GM’s plan to build two new models in Australia through until 2022.
