A homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who shot five random victims.
For those of you keeping score at home I have not read the Jack Reacher novel One Shot that this movie is based on. However, I have started to read the Jack Reacher Novel Killing Floor.
Fans of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series might have objected to the casting of Tom Cruise in the title role considering that Cruise is about 8 inches shorter and 90 pounds lighter then the character he was cast to portray. However, I doubt that there are any actors working today who would have been more physically appropriate for the role who would have been able to portray Reacher’s level of intelligence. I enjoyed Rosamund Pike’s and it was good to see that she was not the ‘damsel in distresses’ .
Director Christopher McQuarrie is primarily known for writing did brilliant work managing to temper the brutality of the story and balance it with the movie’s sense of humour. I would love to see McQuarrie reprise his role as director should any novels be adapted into movie.
