Charlie Rankin, recently released from prison, seeks vengeance for his jail-house mentor William “The Buddha” Pettigrew. Along the way, he meets the ethereal, yet streetwise, Florence Jane. They embark on a unlikely road trip, careening towards an unlikely redemption and uncertain resolution.
Boot Tracks is based on a novel by the same name written Matthew F Jones. Now after watching this one and considering that I have not Jones’ book, I am still willing to assume that the book is better than the movie.
Boot Tracks seemed to have all the right ingredients, but director David Jacobson seemed to be devoid of any talent. Jacobson seemed to have an odd sense of style that was more infuriating than anything else. I really got the impression that this movie was trying to be something it wasn’t and maybe I am being a little picky here but a little exposition at the start of the movie would have gone a long way.
