Australia Post has entered into a partnership with the Australian Taxation Office which makes it easier for Australians to apply for tax file numbers.
Australia Post General Manager Financial, Identity & Commercial Services, Andrew Maitland, said the new service would make it simpler for more than 700,000 people who apply for a Tax File Number each year.
“Australia Post is trusted by the community to handle their sensitive information. Last year alone we processed more than 4.5 million identity verification checks on behalf of a range of government agencies across Australia,” Mr Maitland said.
Current paper TFN application forms available via newsagents are not accepted as part of the Australia Post service.
