Over 140,000 students across Australia are getting ready to leave there parent’s car behind as they walk, ride or skate to school on Bicycle Network’s National Ride2School Day, Friday 22 March.
Ride2School Team Manager, Miss Kelly Pearson says that encouraging students to ride to school makes them more self-sufficient and is a crucial part of education and the development of social skills.
“Schools that are registered in the Ride2School program more than double the national average riding rate. These students increase the time they devote to physical activity which helps reduce the risk of obesity and associated health problems.” Miss Pearson said.
Miss Pearson explained that National Ride2School Day is part of Bicycle Network’s Ride2School program, which has been running nationally since 2006.
