When a young soldier in Vietnam gets dumped by his hometown girl, he and his best friend decide to go AWOL and return to the States to win her back.
The suspension of disbelief is required if you are actually going to believe that young privates would actually manage to sneak back to America while on leave during the Vietnam War. But then again hey, this is only a movie. It was a great creative touch to have the Apollo 11 mission as a sort of a clock on the boys’ journey back home.
Though it is great to see Australian actors like Liam Hemsworth getting work, he seemed a bit of a soft choice even though he might not have been the best choice for the role. Even though Hemsworth was cast as the best friend there seemed to be no effort by the filmmakers to keep Liam Hemsworth and Austin Stockwell in defined ‘A’ and ‘B’ roles.
This was director Danny Mooney feature film as a director.
