Disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack; using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.

Given the current tension with North Korea a movie like Olympus has fallen seems oddly topical, though to be truthful as soon as you have brought your ticket you know how this movie is going to end before you enter the cinema.
With the casting of Rick Yune as the main villain of the movie, I really have to question the casting of Gerard Buttler as the hero of the piece. Buttler may have had the skills as an actor for the role, but against Rick Yune’s villain I am not entirely sure if Buttler has enough of an image as a tough guy.

On a side note it was good see that Hamish McDonald got a role in the movie as himself.
