Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, today urged people in Melbourne and Sydney to get digital ready before analog TV signals are permanently switched off in December.
Senator Conroy commented that ten regions across Australia have already made the switch, with another five regions to make the transition over the next six months, including Sydney on 3 December 2013 and Melbourne on 10 December 2013 the Senator added that 95 per cent of households in Sydney and Melbourne have already made the switch.
“You don’t need to wait until the last minute, converting to digital now will give you access to all 17 digital channels, giving you more choice of programs and better sound Senator Conroy explained that the Government’s Household Assistance Scheme and Satellite Subsidy Scheme are available to help eligible people get ready. Both schemes allow eligible people to have digital ready equipment installed in their homes. The Household Assistance Scheme also provides in-home aftercare support for 12 months.
