Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury said that a new park and ride and bike and ride facility was officially opened in north Weston recently, giving the Weston Creek community more travel options to get to and from work, school and activities
“The new $500,000 facility located off Cotter Road, adjacent to the intersection with Kirkpatrick Street, will allow people in north Weston that currently rely on car only transportation to shift to car and bus or bike and bus travel,” Mr Rattenbury said.
Mr Rattenbury explained that the north Weston Park and ride was completed by local contractor Chincivil and features 49 normal parking spaces and a bike storage cage that can hold up to 24 bikes at a time.
“It is important that the ACT Government provides Canberra with better public transport options that make the city more sustainable and reduce congestion on the road network.” Mr Rattenbury said
Rattenburry pointed out that the north Weston facility is another step towards this goal and the 16th such facility provided in Canberra, with 829 park and ride spaces currently available as well as bike storage facilities at over 20 locations across the ACT.
