Years after walking away from her past as a teenage private eye, Veronica Mars gets pulled back to her hometown – just in time for her high school reunion – in order to help her old flame Logan Echolls, who’s embroiled in a murder mystery.
Veronica Mars would be the first movie that I have watched that was funded through a Kick Starter campaign that did not have a graphic novel feel to it. Also for the record yes I have watched a small handful of episodes of the series that movie is based on.
Unlike most movies that are adapted from television series it seems that director Rob Thomas has taken the bold step in casting the actual actors form his series in this movie. This is shows that certain level of care and attention was taken with this movie, it’s pretty clear that care probably would not have been taken if Thomas was not in the directing and if the movie had have received studio funding. I enjoyed what Rob Thomas did with movie he has a great comedic style with his dialogue but the movie did feel a little light and breezy. Though I suppose that should expected considering the movies roots.
I really would not consider myself that much of a fan of Kristen Bell’s work, considering her history with the role this was a safe choice for Bell. She knew exactly what to do with the role and gave a great performance.
