Check out the Silver Screen Film Festival

The Arc Cinema in Acton came alive with Beatlemania at the premiere of the Silver Screen Film Festival.
“Tonight’s screening will feature a documentary titled ‘Good Ol’ Frieda’, which tells the story of Frieda Kelly, the Beatles first fan club president, as well as a stellar musical performance of ‘Beatlemania’ classics performed by Shortis and Simpson,” Minister for Ageing, Shane Rattenbury.
Mr Rattenburry explained that Good Ol’ Frieda is just one of the films from the Silver Screenings Film Program, which runs from 6 June 2014 until 3 October 2014, screening films at 2:00pm every Friday.
“Many of the films selected for Silver Screenings are recent cinema releases which have received critical acclaim and considerable box office success, but the season will also feature a selection of classic films that will be presented by some of the ‘leading lights’ of Canberra’s vibrant arts and cultural movement including ABC Canberra’s Virginia Haussegger, Canberra International Film Festival’s Artistic Director, Lex Lindsay, ABC Radio National’s David Kilby and Andrew Pike, CEO of Ronin Films.” Mr Rattenburry commented.
