The Australian wheelchair rugby team are off to a perfect start to the Canada Cup in Vancouver by defeating Switzerland and Great Britain in their opening pool matches.
The ‘Steelers’ defeated Switzerland 62-43 in the tournament opener at Richmond Oval, before delivering a faultless first-half display against Great Britain to set up a 63-45 victory.
“We will need to lift again for Sweden,” Australian captain Ryan Scott said “We can’t afford to take our foot off the pedal now.” “We got off to a really good start (against Great Britain) but in the third quarter, we dropped off a little bit. We need to be more ruthless and continue to apply the pressure we started off with.”
The two wins are enough to give the Australians top spot in their pool with one qualifying match, against Sweden still to play
