Palmer makes good on promise to donate Parliamentary Salary

Federal member for Fairfax Clive Palmer recently announced that more than 100 community organisations in his electorate will receive a donation drawn directly from his parliamentary salary.
Mr Palmer said he promised to donate his parliamentary salary to community organisations in his electorate and over the coming days he will deliver on this promise. “My parliamentary salary, deposited by the Department of Finance, has been drawn and donations will be made to community organisations in the Fairfax electorate,” Mr Palmer said.
Mr Palmer explained that Organisations ranging in varying sizes, covering a range of areas including sporting, veterans, health, recreational, environmental, aged care will benefit from his donation. The donations will assist the community organisation in making improvements to their facilities, buy new uniforms or equipment and even pay the bills. “I hope these donations encourage other politicians to stop making empty promises and support their electorate, not just with their electoral allowance or parliamentary duties but by genuinely giving back to and supporting their communities,” he said.

Community organisations to benefit from Mr Palmer’s electoral salary include Buderim Historical Society, Australian Air Force Cadets, Original Eumundi Markets, Cancer Council of Queensland Sunshine Coast Office, Coolum Beach Meals on Wheels, Guide Dogs Queensland, Mapleton Mens Shed, Kenilworth and District Chamber of Commerce and Citizens Inc, Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary Support Group Inc, Nambour Blue Demons Hockey Club, Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society, Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre, Yandina Community Gardens, Sunshine Coast Police Citizens Youth Club and many more.
