Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human-half vampire, a guardian of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discreetly within our world. Her calling is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi.
Strap yourselves in this one was adapted from a 2007 six novel young adult series of the same name written by Richelle Mead, so there is a potential for five sequels. Though it should be noted that is unlikely that five sequels are going to be let loose upon the world. Vampire Academy really did not do anything to radically change the vampire movie genre but it did take its moment to set its vampires apart from all the other movie vampires. Even though Vampire Academy has been ravaged by other critics I feel that this is probably one of the better teen vampire movies that has been released easily clearing the bar that was set by the cultural phenomenon Twilight in street shoes for the simple reason that lead actress Zoey Deutch gave a performance that suggested that she was capable of remembering her lines.
