Light years from Earth, 26 years after being abducted, Peter Quill finds himself the prime target of a manhunt after discovering an orb wanted by Ronan the Accuser.
I’m not overly familiar with Writer/Director James Gunn’s work though it should be noted that this is his third feature film and at the moment he is attached to Write and direct the sequel. So the prospect of franchise director continuity means that Guardians of the Galaxy has a chance to be a decent franchise.
A lot of the comic book movies that we seem to get bombarded with over the course the year have a tendency to be very formulaic. But that can be overlooked if there are other aspects of the movie to draw you into the experience and with me it was the movie’s soundtrack which lent well to the development of Chris Pratt’s character Peter Quill. It was a bold move by the filmmakers to cast actors like Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper in roles that where generated by computers. I got the feeling that the producers took a scattergun approach when they considered the potential audience for the movie. Although I did enjoy movie, I felt that they were trying to introduce too much into the movie and possibly needed a narrower focus.
Of course it goes without that you should be on the look out for Stan Lee’s cameo and be sure to stay after the credits.
