An aging fighter in search of redemption steps into the ring with a hungry young pugilist with something to prove.

If you hold the Rocky movies as the formula standard of what to expect a boxing movie your either going to be disappointed or surprised with what the filmmakers have delivered. A little creative story telling by writer/director Damian Lee has raised the bar for what I will expect from a boxing movie in the future. This would have lost its emotional edge if the story was told in the standard linear fashion, with the actual boxing match at the end of the movie.
There was an amazing supporting cast for this movie with the likes of Louis Gossett Jr, James Caan and Famke Janssen. The problem that I might have had with this movie was that I got the feeling that perhaps Izaak Smith might have been in a completely different weight class to Dominic Purcell.
