Minister for the Arts Joy Burch announced that ScreenACT will receive $80,500 from the 2015 ACT Arts Fund Program category to support local emerging filmmakers and screen practitioners.
“The ACT Government is committed to supporting artistic development for our local film and screen artists. The goal of ScreenACT’s 2015 program is to inspire, develop and assist practitioners in their creative pursuits,” Ms Burch said.
Ms Burch explained that ScreenACT will provide a suite of services including script-reading, a development Pod program for writers and producers to work on their creative and business skills, support for digital media practitioners, and low cost public liability insurance. Burch added that ScreenACT will also manage the ACT Screen Arts Fund, which is part of the ACT Arts Fund and provides opportunities for self-initiated film and screen projects.
“This funding is in addition to funding provided by the Innovation branch of Economic Development. Combined, this support has been instrumental in the development of local screen artists, providing seed funding and mentorship opportunities at critical points of their careers, and to support feature films,” Ms Burch said.
