As his kingdom is being threatened by the Turks, young prince Vlad Tepes must become a monster feared by his own kingdom in order to obtain the power needed to protect his own family, and the families of his kingdom.

Before I get started with this review I want to take this opportunity to remind you of one of the rules for The Movie Boards, if you ever disagree with one of my reviews, go watch the movie and then send me your review of that movie.

For the record Gary Shore, Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless the director and writers of Dracula Untold have a handful of credits among them most of which are still in production. After watching their movie I feel that they desperately need to prove themselves under The Rule of 5.
The Rule of 5, is theory of mine where someone in the movie industry has a total of 5 movies to give me a general idea of their abilities. After what could only be described as a Disneyfied Marvel Super Hero treatment of the Dracula legend, they face an uphill battle on the road to artistic redemption.
With Dracula Untold the film makers seemed to have all the right building materials with their cast and the use of CGI. However when it came to the movie as a whole it seemed that they were unable to read the plans.
I’ll openly admit that I haven’t read Bram Stoker’s iconic 1897 novel but the chasing of an American PG-13 rating by the filmmakers and the painting of Vlad as a sympathetic family man caught between a rock and a hard place seemed completely uncalled for. Especially when you take into consideration Vlad’s alleged historical penchant for impaling his prisoners paints him more as a cruel sadistic son-of-a-bitch.
