An ordinary man fights violence the only way he knows how – by killing one criminal at a time. Hero or villain? Justice or vengeance? You decide.
Wow. Wow. Wow. If you’re a fan of Australian movies track this one down, it’s amazing, it’s brilliant I can’t speak any more highly of this one, then to say, Watch it.
Director Kelly Dolen and writer Stephen M. Coates really delivered something that was interesting and I really hope that there will be a sequel to this one. I also couldn’t help but be reminded of Uwe Boll’s Rampage movies (granted a lot of Boll’s movies are not worth watching but trust me, Rampage and Rampage: Capital Punishment are actually worthy of your time and money).
While watching this I found myself thinking about a lot of things like all good movies are supposed to. Like would somebody like infamous Australian Bush ranger Ned Kelly be faced with similar media attention that was afforded to John Doe for his crimes? Maybe. Is there a problem with the Justice system today? Honestly I really don’t know, but I can see that there are times when it might make you sit and wonder about it.
Largely there was a cast of unknowns except for maybe a one or two familiar faces most notable of which was Lachy Hulme. Lachy gave a great performance but I was blown away by both Sam Parsonson and Jamie Bamber’s performances. Both men gave brilliant monologues particularly Bamber who had what I can only describe as a “I’m mad as hell” moment.
