ABC ANZAC Day programing

Ahead of the 2015 Anzac Day commemorations which mark the marks the Centenary of Gallipoli. The ABC is once again honoured to help all Australians reflect on this historical moment, with the recent announcing of its programing for Anzac Day. ABC managing director Mark Scott commented that across our radio, television, digital and online platforms the ABC will offer news, drama, documentary and discussion as Australians connect over the events that helped shape our national identity. Mr Scott added that the significance of the Centenary year would add greater poignancy to remembrance services for those Australians who served in WW1 and every conflict since.

“Anzac Day and the landings at Gallipoli offer a range of meanings,” Mr Scott said. “For some, the day is seen as one marking Australia’s coming of age as a nation. For others, it is a day to remember those who went to war and did not come home and those who came home, forever changed. It is a day to remember the sacrifice and our debt to every person who has played a role, not just in WWI but in every conflict to which Australia has since committed itself. For some it is simply a day to consider what we have in common and the values we have as a nation.”
