King Henry II tests the loyalty and honor of his son Richard sending him to a hellish prison. In prison Richard must fight against adversaries representing the virtues of a knight.
Personally I know very little about the life of Richard the Lionheart, but considering that this is a movie I can only assume that this and the subsequent sequel Richard the Lionheart: Rebellion are little more than an artistic interpretation the then Prince became the man that he needed to be to become King.
There is very little that I can say about this that is positive about this movie other than there was some really interesting shots of the castles used in the movie and the surrounding countryside and the overall concept of the movie is interesting enough for this movie to be rented from your friendly neighbourhood DVD store. That being said this movie is not solid enough to be the first movie watched in any movie marathon. I found myself calling “Bullshit” on the action sequences before the opening credits started to roll. So you might want to relegate this little movie to the number 3 slot in any potential movie marathon that you might be having.
I was very unfamiliar with director Stefano Milla and all the actors that where involved with the making of this movie. Personally the only work that I see myself watching of Milla’s is this movie’s sequel in hope that Milla has overcame the problems that he had in this movie with the sound and action sequences that seemed to have had no prior planning.
