Minister for Police and Emergency Services Joy Burch Presents a Plaque of Appreciation to the Araluen craft group

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Joy Burch today presented to the Araluen craft group a Plaque of Appreciation for producing a series of Trauma Teddy Bears for the ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) to give to children.
“It is wonderful to have members of the Araluen Craft Group dedicate some of their time to putting a smile on the faces of the youngest patients treated by the ACT Ambulance Service,” Ms Burch said “Being treated for a medical condition can be daunting for anyone and having a Trauma Teddy Bear ready to present to children helps to make the experience a little easier and less traumatic.” Ms Burch added.
Ms Burch explained that the craft group at Araluen, Weston Creek Village approached the ACTAS to offer their services to produce the bears and the craft group has carefully hand stitched and knitted the variety of bears for girls and boys in a variety of sizes and colours. Burch pointed out that the craft group has made Thirty-two Trauma Teddy Bears will be placed in all front line ACTAS emergency ambulance vehicles ready to distribute when required.
“It is very noticeable just how much effort has gone into producing the Trauma Teddy Bears and I was delighted to meet the craft group today and share in an afternoon tea and present a Plaque of Appreciation.” Ms Burch commented.
