Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.

If the sequels to Jurassic Park that were released in 1997 & 2001 where the death of the franchise then I would like to take the opportunity to personally congratulate director Colin Trevorrow for kicking the Jurassic park film franchise in the balls and putting the nails into the franchise’s coffin. Taking even the most casual glance at the four films that Trevorrow has directed its obvious that he was not qualified to direct an Action-Adventure movie of this magnitude. The studio should have had the presence of mind to hire a director who has directed at least one movie in the action-adventure to ensure that they had the most basic understanding of how to craft a decent action sequence. Especially if they are going to give the director a budget in excess of $100 million, because the only emotional reaction that I noticed from anybody else in the cinema was the lightest of laughter at some of the jokes. It should also be noted that none of the dinosaurs had that “Oh-my-god-this-is-awesome” feel that I remember from the 1993 original movie. But then again 22 years does feel like a life time.
Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and the rest of the cast didn’t give crap performances but then again I’d be surprised if anybody is going to be singled out in the upcoming awards season. For the actors to be actually possible to deliver memorable performances they would have needed a better story to work with.
