Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley today announced $455,226 in the latest round of Film Victoria’s production investment funding towards diverse projects, ranging from an animated sketch show to a documentary about an Australian Olympic champion. Mr. Foley explained that this translates to seven new Victorian film, television and web projects that will get off the ground with assistance from the Andrews Labor Government. Foley added that these projects are expected to generate over $4.5 million for the state as well as more than 300 employment opportunities for the local screen sector.
“A thriving screen sector is a crucial part of Victoria’s creative industries. Investing in a dynamic slate of new and established film, TV and online projects builds on our culture of innovation and excellence.” Mr. Foley commented “This round will not only generate unique and exciting content for audiences, it means investment in local talent and skills and will provide more than 300 additional employment opportunities in Victoria’s screen industry.”
CEO of Film Victoria Jenni Tosi clarified that the projects that received backing included two web series, two feature films and three documentaries. Ms Tosi added that the names of the projects where The Katering Show, Suspect Moustache, The Death and Life of Otto Bloom, The Heckler, The Will to Fly, Conviction and a new season of the documentary series First Contact from Blackfella Films.
“This latest round of funded projects demonstrates the diversity of production coming out of Victoria.” Ms Tosi commented “We’re delighted to provide these creative teams with the support they need to see their projects realised and also strengthen their careers.”
Ms Tosi went on to point out that Film Victoria’s Assigned Production Investment program aims to support high quality, diverse and engaging film, television and online content for Australian and international audiences. Supported projects generate production activity and employment opportunities in Victoria.
