A young teenager camping in the woods helps rescue the President of the United States when Air Force One is shot down near his campsite.
It should be noted that there is a tie novel for the movie written by Dan Smith published in 2015 (if Smith’s novel was published before the movie was released please correct me) Big Game is also supposedly the most expensive film ever produced in Finland.
I went into this one I had visions of it being similar to the 1997 movie starring Harrison Ford Air Force One, and it was if you scaled back the tension of Air Force One by about a factor of five, this was done because the movie was clearly aimed at a young adult audience. I wasn’t that familiar with both director Jalmari Helander and Onni Tommila’s work though I have feeling I might have seen a trailer to one of their movies. It turns out that Helander and Tommila had previously worked together on Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale.
There was some good action sequences though compared other young adult action movies this might seem to be a little tame, I also liked the twist ending. That being said Onni Tommila gave a decent performance that might have compelled me to want to check out Rare Exports.
