Entries for the coveted St Kilda Film Festival competitions are now officially open, both emerging filmmakers and industry professionals are being called on to submit their creative works in the following categories; Australia’s Top 100 short film competition, The SoundKILDA music video competition, and Under the Radar for filmmakers under the age of 21. The St Kilda Film Festival commences Thursday 19 May until Saturday 28 May 2016.
Festival Director Paul Harris is excited to again be hosting one of Australia’s largest and longest running short film festivals. “We’re thrilled to be bringing such a high quality standard of film to the community again. The ten-day calendar features such a huge range of short films tailored to suit every taste, as well as special screenings and an exciting event schedule, there really is something to inspire and educate everyone,” Mr Harris commented.
City of Port Phillip’s Mayor Bernadene Voss welcomes back the iconic short film festival. “We’re excited the Town Hall will again be enjoyed by film-goers in what is one of Australia’s few publicly owned film festivals. The St Kilda Film Festival belongs to our community and the City of Port Phillip is proud to produce and present this “must-see” event,” Cr Voss said.
Mr Harris explained that the festival is celebrating its 33rd anniversary in 2016, the St Kilda Film Festival will screen the Top 100 short film entries received with a prize pool that totals over $50,000 worth of cash and in-kind craft awards, including at $10,000 prize for Best Short Film.
