Dendy has announced that Lieven Bertels, Festival Director of Sydney Festival, as Dendy Direct’s Guest Curator for January 2016. A spokesperson for Dendy explained that the Dendy Direct guest curator programme is people we love sharing the movies they love with an audience that love movies. Past Guest Curators include Lisa Genova (author of Still Alice), and Aussie acting icon Michael Caton. This month’s selection by Lieven Bertels includes 14 films and one TV show available to rent from 99c.
“Here are 14 movies, and one TV series, that I would immediately watch again. Of course there had to be some Belgian cinéma vérité, and the brilliant doco about my compatriot Raf Simons’ debut for fashion house Dior. Two films about the China of yesterday and today, and one about the home-grown terrorism we had in Europe in the 70s. The weirdest one out is probably A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, the first vampire film from Iran.” Lieven Bertels commented.
