Choose Your Cruise has announced the addition of Chubby Checker to headline the illustrious 60’s line up for Rock the Boat 6 – A Salute to the Sixties which features nine iconic international acts and sets sail in November this year. Checker will replace Peter Noone the original voice of Herman’s Hermits who has medical issues which unfortunately won’t allow him to travel. In a message to all his fans in Australia, Peter Noone said, “I’m really sorry I won’t get to perform for my Aussie fans – I was really looking forward to it.”
A spokesperson for Choose your Cruise explained that Chubby Checker returns for the second time since his performance on Rock the Boat in 2012. Other renowned international 60’s artists joining Checker for the music festival at sea are; Gary Puckett and The Union Gap (USA), The Searchers (UK), The Fortunes (UK), Brian Poole & Chip Hawkes (UK), The Troggs (UK), P.J. Proby (USA), The Pacemakers (UK), and Badfinger featuring Joey Molland (UK).
“I’m thrilled to return to Australia to perform for my fans and relive the excitement of the 60’s with music aficionados of one of the greatest decades in music. It will be a privilege to perform alongside other 60’s acts who are my brothers in music and I look forward to being part of the experience.” Checker commented.
Also joining this star studded extravaganza at sea will be much loved Australian talent Wilbur Wilde, who has just been named Rock the Boat’s official ambassador.
On receiving this honour Wilbur said, “It’s a great honour to be named ambassador for rock the boat. Music and showbiz has been my life and I feel so lucky to again cruise alongside rock royalty. We’ll have a blast!”
