Istanbul’s Cekmekoy Municipality has launched a mercy and justice-themed international short film contest. The Contest was launched on 10th December 2015, by Ahmet Poyraz, the Mayor of Cekmekoy who announced that the contest was open to all countries of the world with entries open until April 8th, 2016 with a prize pool of 99.000 TL to be shared between 20 films. Mayor Poyraz pointed out that the contest has received the support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Faysal Soysal, President of the Contest has called on everybody to participate in the contest with their works to restore mercy and justice all over the world. Mr. Soysal pointed out that remorselessness and injustice underlie unfortunate happenings on the face of Earth. Absence of mercy and justice from our daily life drags the world to new disasters every day. To make these two concepts integral parts of daily life, one needs to consider, remember and produce works focused on them. Therefore, the contest encourages people to consider the beautiful morals of our prophet, who adopted mercy and justice in his lifetime, in a cinematographic language. Soysal added that short films on given themes promoting world peace will be accepted from all geographies irrespective of religion, language and race.
