As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden.

A small message to the Smug of Hipsters out there in the far reaches of the Internet you are hereby forbidden to use the term ‘It Ruined My Childhood’ when referring to movies that have been adapted from television shows that you enjoyed from your childhood for the rest of time and creation. Trust me there are a lot of things that worse than a lousy movie adaption and if you refuse to believe me there is a chair with wheels on it that you would might not like it if your younger self was introduced to.

There might be a few of you out there who know that a movie but I only ever caught a trailer for this ‘movie’ on YouTube because I am pretty sure that the trailer for this ‘movie’ did not make it to Australian cinema screens, It should also be noted that Jem and the Holograms had worst opening from a major studio in 2015 and the worst opening of all time for a film showing on more than 2,400 screens. It should also be noted that Christy Marx who wrote and created the 1985 version of Jem said she had no idea a film was going to be made, and was upset that Hasbro did not inform her about it.

I suppose the only excuse as to why this version of Jem and the Holograms was made was that the studio executives involved with the production of this ‘movie’ didn’t let a rip-off of the 2001 movie Josie and the Pussycats get in the way of the production of their movie and if you really got into it that this movie was more inspired by then based on its source material. In defence of Jem and the Holograms to the best of my knowledge is a little more family friendly then the Josie and the Pussycats movie. I suppose the only good thing about Jem and the Holograms was that its message was all about being yourself and finding your own voice (which is something that we all need to remember) even if you could ricochet a rock off the back head of at least four contestants in a reality television music contestants to find similar music that was used in the movie. With that being said I am fairly certain that the heir apparent to Dr. Uwe Boll’s title as the worst director ever in the form of Jon M Chu.
