Henry is resurrected from death with no memory, and he must save his wife from a telekinetic warlord with a plan to bio-engineer soldiers.
Okay, a quick message to Hoyts Australia, I really hope that the Friday night screening of Hardcore Henry was not the extent of its cinematic run in Australia.
This movie deserves more than just a solitary late night screening because even with the looming release date of the next instalment in the Bourne franchise and the Assassins Creed Movie this has the potential to be the best action movie of 2016. Simply because of the kick in the balls that Hardcore Henry has given to every single movie that has been released that has been adapted from a computer game. This is even more significant because this wasn’t adapted from a computer game title. Lovers of actions movies should adore this not only because of its unique presentation style, the level of action that it went to and some brilliantly funny moments that showed the genius of Sharlto Copley as an actor of particular note was his song-dance- routine.
It should be noted that the entire movie was shot in first person and the character of Henry was played by 10 different stuntmen and cameramen including the director IIya Naishuller.
To all of inept filmmakers out there (yes that means your Uwe Boll) who have attempted adapting a video game into a movie, the next time you try another one of your addaptions embrace all of the game and don’t just pick and chose what you deem worthy to bring to the movie screen and then just maybe you will give us something just as cool to watch.
