A national manhunt is ordered for a rebellious kid and his foster uncle who go missing in the wild New Zealand bush.
This is the second movie that I have watched that was directed by Taika Waititi the first being the 2014 release What we do in the shadows. As I recall I wasn’t the biggest fan of What we do in the shadows (though it was pointed out by my Big Sister’s better half that it had a kiwi-centric sense of humour) despite one maybe two awkward ‘why are they going there that way?’ jokes but they can easily be overly looked. Waititi also brought a much broader sense of humour to his movie, which was a great thing to see. On the whole this was a very heartfelt and enjoyable possibly my second favourite movie out of New Zealand. Both Sam Neil and Julian Dennison (who I have previously seen in the 2014 Australian movie Paper Planes) gave great performances.
