Sergei Polunin is a breathtaking ballet talent who questions his existence and his commitment to dance just as he is about to become a legend.

Okay, those of you who read my reviews with any regularity would know that Dancer is something that I probably would not normally watch (I find that sometimes while watching most feature length documentaries my mind wonders causing me to have to replay parts); this is probably the first Documentary that I have personally reviewed for The Movie Boards and I probably should try to review more documentaries in the future.
Even though I really don’t care that much for dance (for the record I’m pretty sure that I have two left feet and my spinal cord injury makes it difficult for them to work) but you can’t help but admire Polun in for his ability as a dancer and the fact that he became the youngest Principal dancer in the history of London’s Royal Ballet. Poulin’s mother is a woman who really should be admired for all that she went through to help her son succeed.
My only criticism of Dancer would be that given Polunin’s reputation as the ‘Bad Boy of Ballet’ the filmmakers seemed to take a rather light handed touch and really didn’t actively investigate Polunin’s bad boy reputation at best barely acknowledging it.
