Minister for Regulatory Services, Gordon Ramsay has revealed the top 10 most popular baby names in the ACT for 2016. The Minster said that said Canberra’s new parents continued to choose traditional names. “For the second year running, Charlotte topped the list of girl’s names and William continued its popularity with top spot on the boy’s list,” Mr. Ramsay commented “Charlotte has now been in the top 10 list for girls each year since 2003 and William has previously topped the list of boys’ names in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2014.”
Mr. Ramsay pointed out that Audrey, Lily and Evelyn were new to the top 10 list for girl names with favorites Amelia, Ava, Zoe and Grace appearing again as top girl’s names for 2016. On average 18 babies were born each day in Canberra in 2016. Joining William, other popular names re-appearing in the top 10 baby boy names were Lachlan, Jack, Thomas and Oliver.
